ADRIAN YOUNGE’S THESIS ON SOUND (MOOG GRANDMOTHER)

Moog has revealed a new synthesizer called the Grandmother. The semi-modular analog synth features a built-in arpeggiator, sequencer, and spring reverb tank. It has 41 patch points for processing external sounds, as well as MIDI capabilities. According to a press release, the Moog Grandmother was inspired by the classic Moog Modular synthesizers designed by Bob Moog during the ’60s and ’70s, and who better to test out Moog’s newest toy than our very own, Adrian Younge.

To explore the sonic possibilities and cosmic context of Grandmother, Moog Music visited the Linear Labs studio of artist-composer Adrian Younge. In this video, Younge gives his personal “Thesis On Sound” while incorporating Grandmother into his retro-inspired creative workflow at Linear Labs.
